Happy July, everyone. Hope you’re having a wonderful summer so far. I’ve got a message for you that you might not want to hear, but you need to.
It’s time to be boring.
Stop chasing shiny objects. I know, it’s not the sexiest advice. But boring is what works. Boring is making those phone calls consistently. Every day. Not when you feel like it. Not when your pipeline is empty. Every day.
The temptation right now, especially at the halfway mark, is to go chase some brand-new shiny option. A new lead source, a new platform, a new marketing trick. I get it. Something fresh feels like it might be the thing that changes everything. But it won’t. The tried-and-true is what builds your business. Consistency beats motivation. Motivation runs out. Consistency doesn’t care how you feel. It just shows up.
Work your repeat and referral business. If you want to know where your next deal is coming from, look at the people who already know you. Your repeat and referral business will drive your production. That’s not a theory. That’s what I’ve seen over and over again across decades of doing this.
If you’re working a special niche, great. Now expand it a bit. Go a little wider. Touch a few more people. But don’t abandon the relationships that are already in your corner. They’re your foundation.
Build your vision board for the second half. Here’s what we’re doing with our team right now. We’re working on vision boards for the second half of the year. What are you looking for? What are you working toward?
Cut out some pictures. Maybe it’s buying a home or a condo. Maybe it’s an investment property. Maybe it’s a fabulous vacation or a new car. Whatever it is, put it on the board and put it somewhere you’re going to see it every single day. Your goals need to be visible. Not buried in a notebook. Not in a file on your phone. Right in front of you, every morning when you start your day.
